Junior Brewing Operator
The Junior Brewing Operator plays a key role in supporting the beer production process from the initial handling of raw materials to the final preparation of beer for bottling. The person in this role will work under the guidance of the brewer and ensure that all operations run smoothly, efficiently, and in compliance with safety regulations and quality control standards.
The responsibilities of this position include operating brewing equipment, maintaining cleanliness in the production area, and following safety guidelines at all times. A significant part of the role involves monitoring production records, taking necessary samples, and properly handling waste materials in accordance with company policies. The operator will also be responsible for performing Cleaning-in-Place (CIP) procedures and ensuring that all brewing additives are prepared and measured accurately before use.
Strict adherence to safety protocols is crucial in this role. The Junior Brewing Operator must always wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and ensure that all brewing and filtration processes meet regulatory and company standards. Consumption of beer or any unprescribed substances during working hours is strictly prohibited to maintain a high level of professionalism and workplace safety.
Beer Production Responsibilities
The Junior Brewing Operator will be responsible for physically receiving brewing materials from the warehouse, ensuring that everything required for the 24-hour brewing operations is available and accounted for. This includes handling and monitoring the safe transfer of malt, additives, and other brewing materials while maintaining proper logbooks and record-keeping practices.
Measuring and preparing brewing and filtration additives as per the brewer’s issued program is another critical duty of this role. The operator will be involved in monitoring and operating all brewing processes from the malt transfer stage to the final bright beer tank (BBT) operations. Additionally, the individual will be responsible for cleaning machinery and brewing equipment after each process and ensuring proper sanitation protocols are followed.
Another key responsibility involves monitoring the levels of CIP chemicals and preparing them when necessary. This requires a strong understanding of chemical handling procedures and strict compliance with safety standards. Operators must also ensure that beer hoses are properly soaked, cleaned, and checked for quality to prevent contamination.
Qualifications and Key Skills
To be considered for this role, candidates must have a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Food Science and Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field. Since this is a junior-level position, the company welcomes applicants with 0 to 2 years of experience in a similar or related role.
