Position: Bank Trainee
The Bank Trainee position is focused on maximizing customer satisfaction through careful attention and efficient service delivery. The role is integral to promoting the Bank’s resource mobilization efforts through effective cross-selling of its products. Providing responsive and high-quality service to customers is of utmost importance. This position serves as the first step in building a strong foundation for a fulfilling career in Islamic banking, involving the maintenance of accurate financial transactions and ensuring adherence to all relevant regulatory requirements. Success in this role hinges on an individual’s ability to learn rapidly, adapt readily to new situations, and demonstrate a steadfast commitment to ethical conduct.
Qualifications
Applicants should hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and Finance, Economics, Banking and Finance, Management, or a related field. This educational background is essential for understanding the core principles of finance and banking.
Experience

Main Duties and Responsibilities
Perform account opening and closing procedures, manage standing orders, process amendments, handle refunds, and manage revocations. Check and countersign vouchers, process standing instructions, and manage stop payment orders from customers, always ensuring proper authorization. Send outward cheques to Head Office and participate in special (RTGS) and bulk cheque clearance activities. Assist customers at the counter by helping them complete forms, open new accounts, transfer funds, and process payments. Exchange notes and coins for customers, accurately sort, arrange, and wrap notes by denomination in bundles of hundreds. Sort daily tickets, perform reconciliations against summary totals, balance physical cash with the Branch administrator, and accurately journalize daily transactions. Collect and validate Original Payment Instruments against the System, collect deposits of cheques and other financial instruments, and prepare and issue Payment Instruments. Determine charges for services requested, collect deposits or payments, or arrange for billing as required.

Compensation will be as per Shabelle Bank’s salary scale, in addition to an attractive benefits package.
