Senior GBV Capacity Building Officer

Oxfam Great Britain is looking for a Senior GBV Capacity Building Officer to be based in Kemissie, Amhara, as part of its Protection program in northern Ethiopia. This position is instrumental in strengthening the capacity of service providers and community structures to respond effectively to gender-based violence. The officer will work under the supervision of the Gender and Protection Team Leader and will collaborate closely with local partners to enhance GBV prevention and response mechanisms.

The responsibilities of this role include designing and implementing training programs for healthcare professionals, caseworkers, and community support networks. The officer will develop strategies to improve early identification, management, and referral of GBV cases while fostering survivor-centered approaches. Additionally, the role involves facilitating community engagement initiatives that promote awareness and risk reduction. By assessing local infrastructure such as safe houses and one-stop centers, the officer will also contribute to strengthening available services for survivors.

Applicants should possess a bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Public Health, Gender Studies, or a related field, with a minimum of five years of experience in GBV programming. Expertise in capacity building, case management, and survivor support services is essential. Strong communication skills, knowledge of GBV prevention strategies, and experience working with diverse stakeholders are also required. A master’s degree and familiarity with mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) interventions will be considered an advantage.
