Position: Communications Volunteer
The Communications Volunteer will play a key role in enhancing NCA’s public engagement and online presence. The position requires a deep understanding of digital media platforms, strong writing skills, and creativity in content development. The volunteer will be responsible for creating, editing, and publishing content across multiple platforms, including the organization’s website, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram.
To qualify for this position, applicants must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, or a related social science field. A Master’s degree is an added advantage, but not a requirement. No prior work experience is necessary, making this an excellent opportunity for recent graduates eager to develop technical skills and gain practical experience in a professional setting.
Fluency in both English and Amharic is mandatory, as the role involves creating bilingual content for diverse audiences. Additional proficiency in other Ethiopian local languages is desirable. The ideal candidate should have strong writing, editing, and storytelling abilities, as well as a keen understanding of audience engagement strategies. Knowledge of graphic design applications such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, or InDesign will be a plus, as visual content plays a crucial role in digital communication.
Key Responsibilities
As a Communications Volunteer, the selected candidate will be responsible for managing and curating social media content, ensuring that NCA’s platforms reflect engaging, informative, and impactful messaging. The volunteer will work closely with the team to develop digital campaigns, create written and visual content, and enhance audience interaction.
The role also involves monitoring social media trends, identifying opportunities for engagement, and strengthening NCA’s digital presence. By utilizing innovative communication strategies, the volunteer will help in amplifying advocacy efforts, increasing public awareness, and driving meaningful conversations on issues affecting female sex workers in Ethiopia.
Additionally, the volunteer will assist in content development for newsletters, reports, press releases, and promotional materials.
