Responsibilities of the Finance Officer
The Finance Officer will play a critical role in ensuring the efficient and effective management of financial resources for World Vision Ethiopia’s projects. Key responsibilities include preparing accurate and timely financial reports, maintaining data quality, and overseeing bank reconciliations and payroll processes. The role also involves reviewing business and travel advance requests to ensure compliance with organizational policies and timely settlements.
In collaboration with program staff, the Finance Officer will contribute to budget preparation and cash flow analysis while maintaining an up-to-date fixed asset inventory register. Additionally, the position involves handling cash requests to ensure sufficient balance for project operations and supporting audit preparations.
As a steward of World Vision Ethiopia’s resources, the Finance Officer will review and submit insurance data related to project assets, advise supervisors on financial and administrative issues, and ensure the timely renewal of insurance policies. This role requires attention to detail, a proactive approach to risk management, and the ability to deliver high-quality results under tight deadlines.
Qualifications and Experience
To qualify for this position, candidates must possess a BA Degree in Accounting or Accounting and Finance and have a minimum of four years of experience in accounting and finance, preferably within the NGO sector. Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office, are essential. Fluency in both written and spoken English is required, and knowledge of local languages is an added advantage.
