Finance Assistant
Role Overview
The Finance Assistant will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth financial operations of DRC’s activities in Addis Ababa. This position involves managing financial transactions, maintaining accurate records, and providing support to the finance team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of accounting principles, demonstrate excellent organizational skills, and have the ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities
As a Finance Assistant, you will be responsible for processing financial transactions, preparing monthly financial reports, and assisting in budget management. Your role will also include ensuring compliance with DRC’s financial policies and procedures, supporting audits, and maintaining accurate documentation for all financial activities. Additionally, you will work closely with program teams to facilitate efficient financial planning and reporting.
In this position, attention to detail and adherence to deadlines are critical. You will be expected to provide timely financial updates and contribute to maintaining the organization’s financial integrity. The role also involves engaging with other departments to streamline financial processes and support the overall efficiency of DRC’s operations in Ethiopia.
Qualifications
Candidates must hold a degree or diploma in Accounting or Finance. For degree holders, at least one year of experience in a similar role is required, while diploma holders should have a minimum of two years of experience. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word, is essential, along with a strong command of English, both written and spoken. Knowledge of Somali is considered an advantage.
The ideal candidate will exhibit excellent communication skills, a strong sense of personal integrity, and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively. Experience working with NGOs and familiarity with accounting software are highly desirable.
