Enumerator – Data and Research Unit

This position offers an opportunity to support IOM’s Data and Research Unit in gathering essential migration data. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of the Chief of Mission and the Project Associates, playing a crucial role in data collection, analysis, and reporting. Responsibilities include identifying reliable sources of information, conducting surveys, and maintaining strong collaboration with local government counterparts. The candidate must ensure the quality of data collected and provide daily updates to supervisors.

To qualify, applicants should have a BA degree in Information Management, Statistics, Geography, Social Sciences, or a related field, along with at least two years of relevant experience. Prior experience in surveys or assessments in natural disaster or conflict settings is essential, and knowledge of camp management is highly valued. Candidates must also demonstrate proficiency in English and the local language.


Enumerator – Afar Region

IOM is seeking an Enumerator to conduct data collection and assessments in the Afar Region. The candidate will be responsible for gathering displacement and return data, liaising with key informants, and reporting on daily activities. This role requires working closely with Project Associates and engaging with local communities, humanitarian partners, and government representatives to ensure accurate and effective data collection.

Applicants should hold a degree in Information Management, Statistics, or related fields, with a minimum of two years of experience in similar roles. A strong command of English and the Afar language is mandatory, along with proficiency in other local languages as an advantage. Experience with international organizations or NGOs is highly desirable, and applicants must be Ethiopian nationals with a passion for serving their communities.


Enumerator – Oromia Region

This position focuses on data collection and analysis in the Oromia Region. The Enumerator will assess displacement and return trends at various administrative levels, including zones, woredas, and villages. By closely collaborating with the Data and Research Unit and local stakeholders, the candidate will help inform IOM’s strategic migration interventions.

Applicants must have a BA degree in Information Management, Social Sciences, or related fields, with at least two years of experience in surveys and data collection. Fluency in English and Afan Oromo is required, while additional local language skills will be considered an advantage. The role demands excellent interpersonal skills and a commitment to producing high-quality data for meaningful action.
