Position: WASH Engineer Expert
Role Overview
Caritas Switzerland is currently seeking a dedicated and skilled WASH Engineer Expert to lead its site construction activities in providing potable water to communities. This role involves working closely with the field teams, stakeholders, and local community members to implement water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) initiatives. The selected candidate will play a crucial role in building community capacity through training and awareness programs while ensuring the sustainability of WASH interventions.
Key Qualifications
To be eligible for this position, candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree in water resource engineering, civil engineering, environmental engineering, or a related field. A minimum of five years of experience in WASH engineering or related roles is required, with prior experience in non-governmental organizations being an added advantage. Proficiency in English, Amharic, and Afan Oromo is essential, reflecting the need to communicate effectively across diverse communities and stakeholders.
Responsibilities
The WASH Engineer Expert will oversee all aspects of site construction activities related to water provision. This includes designing and implementing effective monitoring and evaluation frameworks to ensure the long-term impact of projects. The Engineer will work to strengthen the skills of community members through WASH-related activities, fostering ownership and resilience within the target populations.
In addition to these technical responsibilities, the Engineer will represent Caritas Switzerland in various external task forces, working groups, and forums. This involves negotiating strategic positions, advocating for community needs, and ensuring that project activities align with organizational and stakeholder goals. Coordination with internal teams and external partners is a critical aspect of this role, ensuring seamless integration and collaboration.

This position is based in Mega, with frequent travel to project sites as required.
