Professor, School of African Studies
The African Leadership Excellence Academy invites distinguished scholars to apply for the position of Professor in the School of African Studies. This role is integral to advancing the academy’s “Africanization Agenda,” fostering a deeper understanding of African cultures, histories, and contemporary issues.
As a professor, you will design and deliver engaging courses, encouraging critical thinking and diverse perspectives among students. Your role will also involve conducting groundbreaking research in African Studies, contributing to academic discourse, and developing case-based learning methodologies. In addition to teaching, you will mentor students, support their personal and professional growth, and prepare them for leadership roles.
Applicants should hold a Ph.D. or equivalent in African Studies or a related field, with expertise in African cultures, history, and contemporary issues. A strong publication record, experience in university-level teaching, and a proven track record in impactful research are essential. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, a commitment to fostering diversity and inclusion, and the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and students.
Program Officer
The Program Officer position offers a unique opportunity to work closely with the President of AFLEX, contributing to strategic leadership initiatives and ensuring the smooth execution of priority projects. Reporting directly to the President, this role involves advising on key strategic matters, preparing for meetings, and acting as a liaison between the President’s Office and internal teams or external partners.
The Program Officer will also coordinate internal programs, manage team check-ins, and oversee the progress of initiatives. This position requires a proactive approach to managing multi-stakeholder projects, ensuring timely delivery, and addressing urgent needs within the organization.
Applicants should have a BA or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Economics, Law, Mathematics, Engineering, Statistics, or related fields. Candidates must possess 5 years of experience with a Bachelor’s degree or 3 years with a Master’s degree, along with 1-2 years of project management experience. Strong critical thinking, excellent communication skills in Amharic and English, and the ability to collaborate with senior management are essential for this role.
