About the Position: Environmental Health Assistant

The Environmental Health Assistant role is central to IRC’s mission of improving access to clean water and sanitation in Ethiopia. Under the guidance of the Environmental Health Officer, you will play a key role in planning, constructing, and rehabilitating water supply and sanitation facilities at the site level. Your responsibilities will include managing resources, coordinating skilled and unskilled labor, and ensuring that all projects meet the required standards.

This position also involves engaging with local communities and administration to facilitate the efficient implementation of programs. You will be responsible for supervising construction progress, keeping detailed records, and preparing comprehensive reports for your supervisors. In addition, you will support the Capacity Building Assistants in sensitizing the community and overseeing the handover of completed projects.

Qualifications and Skills

To excel in this role, you must hold a degree or diploma in Water Supply Technician, Construction, Water Engineering, or a related field. Candidates with experience in managing labor and materials at construction sites, mobilizing communities, and facilitating resource allocation are strongly encouraged to apply.

The IRC values candidates with strong communication skills and basic computer literacy in Word and Excel. Proficiency in Amharic and English is required, and knowledge of the local language is an added advantage.
