About the Position: Capacity Building Assistant
As a Capacity Building Assistant, you will play a vital role in implementing the IRC’s Participatory Learning and Action (PLA) approach, which mobilizes communities to address water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) challenges through collective action. Reporting to the Hygiene Promotion/PLA Officer, you will be responsible for fostering community-driven solutions and ensuring the sustainability of IRC’s interventions.
Your key duties will include facilitating community meetings, conducting training sessions, and supporting the development of community action plans. Additionally, you will collaborate with local partners to enhance the capacity of water user associations and other stakeholders. This role demands active engagement with communities to maximize participation and ownership, ensuring the long-term success of water and sanitation projects.
By working closely with IRC teams and local authorities, you will help communities effectively manage WASH facilities while contributing to the organization’s broader mission of fostering resilience and sustainability.
Qualifications and Skills
To be considered for this position, applicants should have a degree or diploma in Environmental Health, Sociology, Rural Development, or Social and Behavioral Change Communication (SBCC) fields. While two years of experience is preferred for diploma holders, degree holders are encouraged to apply even with no prior experience. Familiarity with community development approaches, strong communication skills, and basic computer proficiency are essential for success in this role.
The IRC places a high value on linguistic diversity, and proficiency in local languages alongside English is a strong advantage.
