Qualifications and Essential Requirements

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
The Procurement Officer – Raw Material will be responsible for a wide range of tasks related to the sourcing and procurement of raw materials for our feed production. This includes conducting thorough market research to identify potential suppliers and build a robust supplier database for both current and future raw material needs. The officer will also be responsible for developing strong partnerships with key suppliers, ensuring long-term success and reliable supply chains. This involves negotiating contracts, establishing payment terms, and maintaining open communication channels.
Another key responsibility is onboarding suppliers into the EthioChicken system and ensuring they understand our processes and requirements. The officer will also provide feedback to suppliers on how they can improve their products and services, fostering a collaborative relationship. Additionally, the Procurement Officer will be responsible for ensuring that EthioChicken maintains proper licensing for raw material purchasing, adhering to all relevant regulations and legal requirements.
Furthermore, the Procurement Officer will play a crucial role in achieving cost savings by brainstorming with the Department Director to identify the best prices and payment terms. The officer will also ensure that the delivery of raw materials is done on time, coordinating with suppliers and internal stakeholders. Managing contract creation, review, and approval for large spends is another important responsibility, ensuring that all contracts are in line with EthioChicken’s policies and legal requirements. The officer will strictly adhere to the EthioChicken Procurement process, ensuring transparency and accountability in all procurement activities. This also involves processing payments to suppliers in a timely manner. The officer will also work closely with the Feed team to understand and resolve any issues with raw material forecasts, inventory levels, quality control, receiving procedures, off-loading processes, and documentation requirements. This requires effective communication and collaboration with various internal departments. The officer will provide the Feed team with information on the seasonal availability of raw materials to facilitate flexibility of formulation and cost savings. This position requires working closely with the Finance team and Feed team to ensure that strong controls are in place and followed by all departments. Proactively identifying and communicating risks around the supply of raw materials is also a key responsibility, enabling EthioChicken to take proactive measures to mitigate any potential disruptions.
