Position: Adolescent Youth Se*xual Reproductive Health (AYSRH) / Gender-Based Violence (GBV) Officer
EngenderHealth is currently seeking a qualified and experienced Adolescent Youth Sexual Reproductive Health (AYSRH) / Gender-Based Violence (GBV) Officer to be based in Dessie, Amhara region, as part of their Rights-Based Approach for Enhancing SRHR project. This role plays a critical part in EngenderHealth’s mission, focusing on advancing SRHR among young people, particularly addressing the needs and rights of adolescents. The AYSRH/GBV Officer will work under the guidance of the Regional Team Leader and will oversee the day-to-day execution of project activities aimed at empowering young men and women to exercise their reproductive rights. The officer will also work closely with health providers, educators, and local government bodies, creating a supportive environment that enables young people to access high-quality and equitable SRHR services.
The AYSRH/GBV Officer will take a lead role in designing, planning, and implementing activities aimed at increasing awareness and understanding of SRHR and GBV prevention within the community. Key responsibilities include organizing training sessions, coordinating review meetings, and facilitating mentoring and supportive supervision for local partners. Responsibilities and Key Functions
The AYSRH/GBV Officer is responsible for various programmatic functions, including participation in the project’s design and planning stages and ensuring the meaningful involvement of key community groups in these processes. The officer will facilitate the creation of educational resources and training programs tailored to young people’s needs, such as SRHR and life skills workshops aimed at building self-confidence, decision-making abilities, and awareness of rights. These activities are conducted within schools, health facilities, and community spaces, with a particular emphasis on establishing safe environments for young women and adolescents to access information and support. EngenderHealth is especially focused on creating safe spaces for women and girls, and the officer will support the establishment of these safe environments within schools and community centers, reinforcing the importance of respectful and non-discriminatory service provision.
