Position: Accounting and Administrative Assistant
As the Accounting and Administrative Assistant, you will ensure the smooth operation of the Embassy’s day-to-day administrative and financial activities. Candidates must demonstrate exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to handle complex tasks efficiently.
Essential Qualifications and Skills
To be eligible for this position, applicants must possess:
- A secondary school diploma (or equivalent) or higher educational qualification.
- Fluency in French, English, and Amharic, both spoken and written.
- Proficiency in managing budgets and accounting operations.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- At least two years of professional experience in secretarial and financial duties, ideally in an international organization or a similar role.

Key Responsibilities
The role involves a wide range of duties that require versatility and professionalism. As part of the Embassy’s team, you will:
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the Secretariat, including correspondence and official communication.
- Oversee the expatriate staff’s schedules and coordinate meetings with embassies, UN agencies, and the African Union.
- Maintain an organized archive of all Embassy correspondence and documents.
- Assist with accounting operations, ensuring accurate calculations and proper management of Embassy liquidities.
- Monitor and execute payment transactions and manage maintenance contracts for staff residences.
- Organize official Embassy events and coordinate incoming visits.
- Support expatriate staff with administrative tasks related to their professional and personal duties in Ethiopia, including obtaining diplomatic IDs and driver’s licenses.
- Undertake any additional tasks assigned by the Head of Mission or Deputy Head of Mission.
