Protection Officer – Legal
This role focuses on providing legal support to vulnerable individuals, including refugees, IDPs, and returnees. The Protection Officer will ensure adherence to protection principles, facilitate legal assistance, and address issues related to Ethiopia’s judicial system. A strong understanding of international refugee laws and minimum protection standards is essential.
To qualify, candidates must hold a university degree in law (LL.B) and have at least two years of relevant experience, preferably in a humanitarian context. Familiarity with Ethiopia’s legal framework and the ability to engage with persons of concern are crucial. Proficiency in English is required, while knowledge of Somali language is highly desirable. This role reports to the Area Manager and offers a competitive salary as per the organization’s scale.

Protection Assistant – Legal
The Protection Assistant will support the Protection Officer in implementing legal assistance programs for persons of concern. Responsibilities include identifying protection risks, providing legal advice, and ensuring compliance with core protection concepts and strategies. The ideal candidate should possess strong ethical standards, data protection skills, and the ability to respond to the needs of vulnerable individuals.
Candidates must have a university degree in social work, social science, law, or related fields, along with at least one year of experience in protection or law enforcement. Fluency in English and Somali is mandatory, and familiarity with data collection tools like Kobo is an added advantage. The position is based in Dollo Ado, reporting to the Area Manager.

Peace Building Assistant
The Peace Building Assistant role is designed for individuals passionate about fostering peace and resolving conflicts in vulnerable communities. This position involves facilitating peace-building activities, traveling to field locations, and engaging with stakeholders to promote harmony. Strong organizational and interpersonal skills, along with a willingness to work in challenging environments, are key to success in this role.
Applicants should have a diploma or degree in peace studies, conflict management, social studies, or related fields. At least one year of relevant experience and proficiency in English and Somali are required. The role reports to the Area Manager and offers a salary aligned with the organization’s scale.
