As part of its ongoing efforts to expand its services, CFAI is seeking a highly qualified Orthopedic Workshop Production Specialist to join its dedicated team in Jimma.

Responsibilities and Requirements

Orthopedic Workshop Production Specialist

The Orthopedic Workshop Production Specialist will be responsible for designing, developing, and producing assistive devices, including wheelchairs, crutches, walking frames, and other mobility aids. Candidates must hold a degree or master’s in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Technology, or a related field. Certification as an orthopedic technician will be considered an advantage. A minimum of 2-5 years of experience in a workshop environment is required, with a proven track record in assistive technology production, custom metal, and woodwork.

This role requires proficiency in operating and maintaining workshop machinery such as lathe machines, CNC routers, and woodcombiner machines. The Specialist will work closely with a team to ensure efficient production, while maximizing resource utilization and maintaining high-quality standards. Training and supervision of workshop staff to uphold safety standards and productivity will also be key responsibilities.

Duties and Responsibilities

The primary duties of the Orthopedic Workshop Production Specialist include designing and manufacturing assistive devices tailored to the specific needs of individuals with disabilities. These devices may range from basic mobility aids to more advanced, customized solutions. Additionally, the Specialist will be tasked with developing various metal and wood products that meet local market demands.

Efficiency in managing market orders, ensuring timely deliveries, and adhering to quality standards are essential. The Specialist must also engage in product innovation and improvements, based on user feedback and evolving market trends. Maintaining accurate records of production activities, inventory, and orders is required to support a streamlined workflow within the workshop.
