Position 1: Help Desk Officer – Addis Ababa
The Help Desk Officer will play a pivotal role in providing technical support and assistance to Bunna Insurance’s internal staff in Addis Ababa. The Help Desk Officer is responsible for troubleshooting computer hardware and software issues, resolving network connectivity problems, and providing guidance on IT-related matters. A commitment to efficient customer service is expected, and a passion for solving technical problems is highly appreciated.
The Help Desk Officer’s duties include but are not limited to responding to help desk inquiries via phone, email, or in-person; diagnosing and resolving technical issues related to computer hardware, software, and network connectivity; documenting all help desk interactions and resolutions in a ticketing system; escalating complex issues to senior IT staff when necessary; and providing user training on IT systems and applications. A dedication to keeping up to date with technological innovation is expected, and the constant implementation of best practices is desired. The ability to communicate complex technical information in an accessible manner is greatly appreciated.
To be considered for this position, candidates must hold a BSc degree in Computer Science or a related field of study and have three years of relevant experience. Additionally, candidates must be Comp A+ trained or certified. It is of great importance that candidates for this role have the ability to troubleshoot effectively.
Position 2: Senior Database Administration – Head Office/Addis Ababa
The Senior Database Administrator (DBA) is responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and security of Bunna Insurance’s databases. This role requires an experienced and highly skilled individual with a deep understanding of database management systems, data modeling, and database security principles. The Senior DBA will be based at the Head Office/Addis Ababa branch.
The Senior DBA’s primary responsibilities will be: designing and implementing database solutions to support the company’s business needs; monitoring database performance and identifying areas for improvement; ensuring the security and integrity of database data; performing database backups and recovery procedures; troubleshooting database issues and resolving them in a timely manner; and collaborating with application developers to optimize database performance for applications. It is very important that an incumbent of this position be willing to keep current with the ever changing database ecosystem.
To be considered for this position, candidates must hold a BSc or MSc degree in Computer Science or a related field of study. Candidates with a BSc require five years of relevant experience, while candidates with an MSc require three years of relevant experience. Additionally, candidates must be Oracle (OCP) trained or certified.
