Role and Responsibilities: Junior Structural Engineer
As a Junior Structural Engineer at Alpha Post Tension PLC, you will be an integral part of our design team, contributing to the planning, analysis, and design of various post-tensioned structures. You will work under the guidance of experienced engineers, assisting in the preparation of structural drawings, calculations, and reports. Your responsibilities will encompass a range of tasks, providing you with a comprehensive understanding of the post-tensioning process from concept to completion.
Your daily tasks will involve assisting in the analysis of structural loads, performing calculations to determine the required post-tensioning forces, and contributing to the design of post-tensioning systems for slabs, beams, and other structural elements. You will also be involved in reviewing project specifications, ensuring compliance with relevant codes and standards, and assisting in the preparation of technical documents. This role demands a strong theoretical foundation in structural engineering principles, a keen eye for detail, and a willingness to learn and adapt to new challenges.

Required Qualifications and Skills
To be considered for the Junior Structural Engineer position, candidates must possess a Civil Engineering degree from a recognized university. We are primarily looking for fresh graduates, preferably from the 2023/2024 academic year. A strong academic record is essential, with a cumulative grade point average (GPA) above 3.5 for both male and female applicants. This demonstrates a commitment to academic excellence and a solid understanding of fundamental engineering principles.
A deep and genuine interest in the field of structural engineering is paramount. We are seeking individuals who are passionate about structural design and analysis and are eager to learn about post-tensioning technology. A good theoretical background in analysis and design courses, such as theory of structures and reinforced concrete design, is crucial. Candidates should be able to manually compute basic structural analysis and design problems, demonstrating a strong grasp of fundamental engineering concepts.
Familiarity with current Ethiopian code of practice, Eurocode, or a comparable standard such as ACI code is highly desirable. This knowledge ensures that you can apply relevant codes and standards to your work. Finally, strong problem-solving skills and research capabilities are required. You should be able to identify and analyze complex engineering problems, develop creative solutions, and conduct research to stay abreast of the latest advancements in the field.
