Finance Assistant
The Finance Assistant role is integral to ensuring the financial and administrative efficiency of the Urban WASH project. Based in Addis Ababa, the selected candidate will work closely with the Accountant to implement robust accounting systems, maintain financial records, and provide administrative support. This role requires a meticulous approach, a deep understanding of accounting practices, and the ability to navigate a fast-paced work environment.
The Finance Assistant will uphold Chemonics’ commitment to excellence and USAID’s regulatory standards. By maintaining accurate financial records and supporting efficient project execution, the Finance Assistant will contribute to the broader goals of delivering sustainable WASH solutions to urban and peri-urban communities across Ethiopia.
Qualifications and Experience
To be considered for this position, candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Accounting, or a related field, coupled with at least two years of bookkeeping, financial management, or accounting experience in Ethiopia. The role requires a solid understanding of basic accounting principles and practices, as well as familiarity with financial management systems.
The ideal candidate should be proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, and possess experience with financial software like ABACUS. Previous exposure to USAID-funded projects and knowledge of USAID regulations are highly desirable. Fluency in written and spoken English is mandatory, while working proficiency in Amharic is strongly preferred. A proactive attitude, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work independently under tight deadlines are essential attributes for success in this role.
