Senior Ethics Officer
The Senior Ethics Officer will play a central role in safeguarding ZamZam Bank’s commitment to transparency and accountability. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, this role requires strategic oversight of the Ethics Unit, with a focus on preventing corruption and impropriety. The successful candidate will identify areas vulnerable to corruption, provide detailed analysis, and implement strategies to promote ethical practices across the organization.
Responsibilities
In this role, the Senior Ethics Officer will assess the knowledge and attitudes of staff and leadership on ethics and identify gaps in understanding. The officer will develop and deliver capacity-building initiatives, including training, events, and other learning platforms, to address these gaps. Additionally, the role involves conducting vulnerability studies on corruption and preparing comprehensive reports with actionable recommendations for improvement.
The officer will also collect and analyze information related to potential corruption incidents within the bank, ensuring the implementation of Ethiopia’s anti-corruption laws. By supporting the development and execution of the bank’s corruption prevention strategies and code of conduct, the officer will ensure that all policies are well-communicated and adhered to by leadership and staff.
Other responsibilities include coordinating the registration of income and assets for all employees through a digital system, ensuring adherence to audit findings, and collaborating with external organizations focused on ethics and corruption prevention. The officer will provide advisory services, promote ethical practices, and contribute to a culture of integrity within the bank.
Minimum Qualifications
Applicants for the Senior Ethics Officer position must hold a BA or MA degree in Law, Ethics and Civics, Good Governance, Economics, Business Administration, Sociology, Management, or related fields. The role requires at least six years of relevant experience for BA holders or four years for MA holders.
Candidates should have a deep understanding of Ethiopia’s anti-corruption laws and experience in identifying vulnerable areas in organizational processes. Skills in conducting corruption prevention studies, data collection, and analysis are essential. Additionally, experience in capacity-building training, policy development, and adherence to ethical guidelines is required.
The ideal candidate will possess strong personal values, including integrity, honesty, and a commitment to service. Proficiency in both English and Amharic, along with exceptional written and verbal communication skills, is a must. A proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, combined with teamwork and accountability, will make the candidate a strong fit for this role.
