The Nutrition Officer role is integral to the organization’s emergency nutrition response efforts. Responsibilities of the Nutrition Officer
The Nutrition Officer will lead the TSFP program implementation at the woreda (district) level, ensuring alignment with IRC’s standards and guidelines. Responsibilities include preparing and coordinating distribution plans, working closely with community members and local health authorities, and providing technical support to government healthcare providers, including Health Extension Workers (HEWs).

Moreover, the officer will mentor and coach Nutrition Assistants, conduct training sessions for HEWs and Health Development Army (HDAs), and provide on-the-job support to ensure quality service delivery. The Nutrition Officer’s role extends beyond technical tasks to include community sensitization, monitoring, and evaluating program outcomes.
Job Requirements
Candidates must hold a Diploma, BSc, or MSc/MD in fields such as nursing, public health, or related disciplines. The required experience ranges from five years for Diploma holders to one year for MSc/MD graduates.
Successful candidates will demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills, an ability to work independently or as part of a dynamic team, and a results-driven mindset. Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, is essential.
Additionally, familiarity with Ethiopian nutritional policies and a deep understanding of cultural nuances in the Somali Region will be advantageous. Fluency in English is mandatory, and knowledge of local languages is highly desirable.
