Concern Worldwide is inviting qualified and passionate professionals to apply for the role of Consortium Team Leader for the FCDO Transforming Education in Ethiopia project. This five-year initiative aims to revolutionize education in Ethiopia by improving teaching quality, enhancing English language learning, and ensuring equitable access to education for marginalized groups, particularly girls. Based in Addis Ababa, the role requires frequent travel within Ethiopia and occasional international travel, making it a dynamic and impactful opportunity for those committed to transforming lives through education.
As a leader of this transformative initiative, the Consortium Team Leader will oversee strategic planning, operational management, and results delivery, ensuring that all program objectives are met with efficiency and integrity. Concern Worldwide, a global humanitarian organization established in 1968, is at the forefront of combating extreme poverty. Guided by its values, Concern empowers the world’s most vulnerable populations through innovative, inclusive, and sustainable solutions, with education being a cornerstone of its mission. This role offers the chance to lead a consortium of local and international partners, engage with government and donor agencies, and create long-term, meaningful change.
The Transforming Education in Ethiopia project is the latest response to the ongoing challenges faced by the Ethiopian education system, including the aftermath of conflict, climate shocks, and the COVID-19 pandemic. By prioritizing teacher development, English language proficiency, and gender equity, the project seeks to enhance learning outcomes and ensure that no child is left behind. If you have a track record of leadership in complex education programs, this role offers the platform to make a lasting difference while advancing your professional journey.
Lead with Purpose: The Consortium Team Leader Role

The leader will be responsible for fostering an inclusive, high-performing team environment, ensuring all program activities adhere to international standards and local regulations.
Central to the role is managing consortium partnerships, aligning resources, and achieving program goals within budget and timelines. The Team Leader will oversee the development of quarterly and annual work plans, ensuring the integration of monitoring, evaluation, accountability, and learning (MEAL) systems. They will also represent the project at national and international forums, advocating for the consortium’s mission and sharing insights to inform global education practices. By maintaining a strong focus on safeguarding, risk management, and ethical principles, the Team Leader will uphold the values of Concern Worldwide while driving the program’s success.
Candidates for this role should possess advanced academic qualifications in education, international development, or a related field, coupled with significant experience in managing large-scale, multi-partner programs in Ethiopia or similar contexts. Strong leadership skills, cultural sensitivity, and the ability to foster effective partnerships with diverse stakeholders are essential.
