Roving Cashier

The Danish Refugee Council is currently seeking a qualified and motivated individual to fill the position of Roving Cashier in Dollo Ado, Somali Region. This role is vital for ensuring effective financial management and supporting field operations. The selected candidate will work closely with the finance team to maintain cash transactions, oversee payments, and provide logistical and administrative support.

Responsibilities

The Roving Cashier will manage the cashbook and cashbox, ensuring accurate recording of financial transactions. The role involves facilitating site-level payments in Liban and Afdher zones, serving as the focal point for cash payments, and maintaining financial documentation. The cashier will ensure timely encoding of financial movements, compliance with DRC’s financial procedures, and adherence to national laws.

Additional responsibilities include organizing payment requests, filing vouchers, scanning financial documents, and supporting field teams with salary payments for camp-based staff. The Roving Cashier will also assist in tracking outstanding payments, maintaining stock sheets, and ensuring that assets are accounted for. Other tasks may be assigned by the Area Manager or Finance Team Leader, including providing support for program and support cost payments at field sites.

Qualifications

Candidates must hold a relevant degree in Accounting or Finance, with at least one year of experience for degree holders or two years of experience for diploma holders. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word, is essential, along with strong communication skills and a stable, team-oriented character. Previous experience in NGOs is advantageous, as is knowledge of Somali language.
