Archive Officer

Qualification and Experience

Habesha Cement is seeking a qualified Archive Officer to join its team in Addis Ababa. Candidates must hold a College Diploma (10+4) or higher in Management, Accounting, Computer Science, or a related field. A minimum of two years of relevant experience is required for this position. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, a keen eye for detail, and a proactive approach to managing archival materials effectively.

Key Responsibilities

The Archive Officer will play a pivotal role in organizing and managing archival records to ensure their accessibility and preservation. Responsibilities include developing classification systems, acquiring and processing new archival materials, and maintaining comprehensive records of items received, stored, issued, and returned. The role also involves creating catalog systems to enhance the accessibility of archived materials and assisting users in retrieving necessary information.

In addition, the Archive Officer will focus on modernizing archival practices by integrating advanced digital tools and technologies. This includes creating accessible digital archives, authenticating historical documents, and appraising materials for their value. The position also involves preparing archival records to facilitate easy access, managing databases, and preserving materials using various formats, such as film, audiotape, and computer storage. The officer will ensure inactive files are appropriately discarded and provide support as instructed by their supervisor.

Additional Skills

The ideal candidate should demonstrate proficiency in digital marketing tools and possess strong graphic design skills using software such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator) or Canva. Excellent writing and editing skills with attention to detail are essential. Familiarity with analytics tools and best practices in information management is a significant advantage.
