Finance Manager: Budgeting and Reporting
Overview
The Finance Manager for Budgeting and Reporting is a critical role within IMC, ensuring the financial health and compliance of its global operations. This position focuses on budgeting, financial monitoring, and donor reporting, collaborating closely with senior management and field finance teams. The Finance Manager will play a pivotal role in maintaining transparency, efficiency, and accountability across IMC’s programs.
Key Responsibilities
As a Finance Manager, you will oversee the budgeting process during program proposals, ensuring alignment with donor guidelines and organizational policies. This includes preparing detailed cost allocations and managing internal budgeting tools to mitigate risks. You will collaborate with field offices and program sectors to ensure budgets are accurate, comprehensive, and realistic.
In addition to budgeting, the Finance Manager will handle donor reporting, ensuring timely and accurate submissions that comply with all regulations. Regular reviews will be conducted to monitor grant utilization, address discrepancies, and propose corrective measures when necessary. Managing financial records, reviewing grant transactions, and supporting field finance teams are also integral to this role.
The position requires a proactive approach to financial compliance, with a focus on identifying and resolving issues before they escalate. Training and mentoring non-financial staff on budgeting and compliance are also key responsibilities, helping to build capacity across the organization.
Qualifications and Skills
To qualify for this position, candidates must hold a Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration, with a minimum of six years of experience in financial management. Alternatively, a Bachelor’s degree with eight years of progressive experience may also be considered. At least five years of experience working with international NGOs is required, with a preference for candidates familiar with major donor regulations such as USAID/BHA, ECHO, or UNICEF.
Candidates must have strong technical skills, including expertise in budgeting tools, accounting software, and the Microsoft Office Suite. Knowledge of financial compliance, cost allocation, and grant management is essential. Additionally, candidates should possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to train non-financial staff and manage tight deadlines effectively.
