Business Control Specialist – Grants
SNV Ethiopia is currently seeking a qualified and passionate professional to join its team as a Business Control Specialist – Grants. This role is central to ensuring the effective management of grants and contracts while upholding SNV’s standards of compliance, financial accountability, and operational excellence.
Responsibilities
The Business Control Specialist – Grants will oversee donor contracts, ensuring compliance with grant requirements and managing all aspects of financial reporting, budgeting, and business control. This includes working closely with program teams to develop grant proposals and budgets while monitoring expenditures to ensure funds are used in alignment with donor and organizational guidelines.
The role also involves managing sub-grants, consortium partnerships, and consultants. This includes conducting due diligence, minimizing financial risks, and ensuring timely disbursement of funds. Additionally, the specialist will supervise the auditing of sub-grantees and ensure that all financial processes adhere to SNV’s policies and donor regulations.
Employee and talent management will also be a key responsibility. This involves supervising staff, fostering professional development, and adhering to SNV’s Annual Performance Assessment policy. By combining leadership and expertise, the Business Control Specialist will play a crucial role in enhancing organizational effectiveness and driving impactful results.
Qualifications and Experience
Applicants must possess a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or a related field, with a master’s degree being an added advantage. Candidates should have at least five years of relevant experience in finance, with demonstrated expertise in grant management, financial modeling, and project oversight. Proficiency in IT, particularly advanced Excel and financial software, is essential.
Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, preferably SAP Business ByDesign, and familiarity with donor contract monitoring and reporting, especially for USG, will be highly advantageous. Strong communication, organizational, and people management skills are critical for success in this role. A commitment to SNV’s values, including gender equality and social justice, is essential.
