Finance Officer

Position Overview

The Embassy of Switzerland in Ethiopia is seeking a Finance Officer to oversee financial management, project support, and ensure the timely execution of financial transactions. This role requires a high level of proficiency in financial planning, reporting, and risk management, ensuring all operations adhere to Swiss and Ethiopian financial standards.

Qualifications and Requirements

Candidates applying for this role must possess a University degree in accounting or a related field. A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in international cooperation, with proven expertise in Project Cycle Management (PCM), is essential. Proficiency in SAP and ESPRIT for contract management is an added advantage. Additionally, candidates should have a strong understanding of financial and administrative processes, with excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills. The ability to work independently and proactively propose solutions is highly valued. Key Responsibilities

  • Contract and Project Management: Managing and executing project contracts in SAP and ESPRIT, ensuring accurate data entry, report generation, and compliance with financial regulations.
  • Financial Monitoring: Conducting site visits, partner risk assessments (PRA), and partner capacity-building activities focused on financial management.
  • Bookkeeping and Risk Management: Handling daily financial transactions, preparing reports, and ensuring timely payment of bills and invoices. Implementing audit recommendations and maintaining a high standard of financial risk management.
  • Administrative Duties: Preparing reports and maintaining clear financial documentation, ensuring seamless operations within the administrative unit.

The Finance Officer will play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth functioning of the Embassy’s financial operations, supporting the overarching goals of bilateral cooperation between Switzerland and Ethiopia.
